Drew Downing B.A. & Dip. Ed.

With a concert band background, Drew commenced his studies as an instrumentalist. He transferred his major to theatre, gaining a Bachelor of Applied Music (Voice Performance / Music Theatre).


Drew quickly established himself as a vocalist for corporate events and cabaret performances throughout Melbourne and beyond, presenting at the Australian of the Year Awards, Federation Square and Sydney Opera House. He also  performed in music theatre productions of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Zanna, Don’t at Chapel off-Chapel.


A strong supporter of community arts, Drew performed in several productions including Into the Woods, Grease – The Musical and Honk!, Blood Brothers and Rent, earning awards and nominations from the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria. Other productions included The Producers, The Sound of Music and Disney’s High School Musical.


Utilising his instrumental background, Drew applied his skills to the theatre; consolidating a reputation as a Musical Director and Arranger, having produced arrangements for RUG, Carols by Candlelight, festivals and musical theatre. He also originated the stage score for Paramount Pictures/Stage Arts Grease 2: Live in Concert.
A sought after Music Specialist, Drew has implemented and developed successful performing arts programs throughout Victorian and New South Wales' schools; featuring award winning ensemble programs, exemplary VCE scores and AMEB outcomes.


With a focus on individual learning approaches, Drew’s programs incorporate Inquiry-Based Learning and productive educational environments; keeping him in regular demand as a facilities designer and curriculum advisor.


Drew is currently a Voice and Performance teacher in Melbourne.
