 Luke Hunter Dip. Ed.

Luke Hunter HeadshotLuke studied piano and flute from age 5, and completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts in music and drama at Monash University in 1997, and a Diploma of Education (Secondary) in 2005.  Initially enrolled as a classical flautist, Luke became interested in concentrating on composition, conducting and music for the theatre. Whilst there, Luke musically directed productions of Into The Woods, Pacific Overtures, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, and A Slice of Saturday Night. In 2005 he returned to study and complete his Diploma of Education in Music and Drama.

 

Luke was the Musical Director for the 2002/2003 Australian tour of Shout! the Musical for Jacobsen Entertainment, and for Blackbird Production’s Falsettos in Melbourne, January 2003. He was delighted to work for Charlie Hull again as Musical Director for the Sydney season of Leader of the Pack in 2003, and it’s Melbourne season in 2005, and the 2004 return Australian tour of Oh! What a Night.

 

In 2003, Luke performed the cabaret show Get Here at the York Theatre Company, New York, alongside friends Simon Gleeson, Natalie O’Donnell and Deone Zanotto.

 

Luke is also a composer, and regularly accompanies and musically directs various artists in their solo cabaret acts.  He has organised charity benefit concerts, including Cabaret for Canteen, in 2004.

 

Luke has also made his mark on stage appearing as ‘Schlomo Metzenbaum’ in the Australian tour of Fame the Musical , as well as its subsequent Asian tour.  He also appeared as ‘Dirk’ in the original Melbourne and Sydney seasons of Oh What a Night! and in the original Australian tour of Shout!

Luke is currently Musical Director for the professional stage production of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" in Sydney.
